How to Flirt Like a Pro Online

Nearly anything you can do in the real world can also be done online including being able to flirt with those you come across via online dating. For many folks, that concept is a little hard to imagine because most of us have come to recognize flirting as being generally about body language.

Flirting is both a basic instinct and a part of human nature that can be shown in several ways including a modest smile, genuine eye contact or a brush of the hair. But, the words you use and how you say them represents a large part in flirtation and it is this that can be duplicated online, even though the technique may not come naturally to everybody.

When trying to date online, flirting is possibly the most important step in developing interest and for lifting a potential relationship up to the next level. Although a great ice breaker to start a conversation, it does require more than just sending a virtual wink to a prospective match.

Once you have established that all important first contact, it is important that you stay relaxed and natural in your correspondence. If you start making conversation simply for the sake of it, the person on the receiving end will know and they may get put off. One piece of advice that can help here is recognizing that less is better and there is no need to write long, dull paragraphs.  As a guideline, try to keep your communications down to approximately five brief sentences which are both interesting and cheerful. Flirting is an art that has to be learnt and by keeping your writing teasing and confident, you will be able to master the science before you know it.

If you find yourself suffering from writers block, try reading the other persons online dating profile and then ask a question about something you find fascinating in them. Doing so shows that you are taking an interest and showing that interest is a definite turn-on. Be careful how you word the question, though. If you ask something that requires nothing more than a yes or no answer, that is probably all you will get.

Another sure fire way to get an answer is to write an intriguing tidbit about yourself without really telling too much. By doing that, you will in all probability spark the interest of the other person who will then write back needing to know more. Once that happens, you will, in all likelihood, have made a possible love connection.

Now that you are on a roll as far as communications are concerned, do not make it appear that you are overeager (even if you are) and bear in mind that part of the flirting process involves the art of playing hard to get. Rather than instantly responding to the person with whom you are in communication with, keep him or her waiting a bit for your response. Perhaps an hour or so or even a day, but not any longer. If you delay too long, the person with whom you are chatting may get the feeling that you have lost interest in them. Getting to grips with delicate balancing act is all part of the science of online flirting.

One final tip is to listen too your instincts. If something does not feel right during your communications, finish it and move on. As the saying goes – there are plenty more fish in the sea.
